Graduated as a Zootecnician – Animal Husbandry - Engineer by the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas (1989). Specialization in Ruminant Nutrition and Management by the Institute of Animal Science of Havana (1992). Awarded with the BSc. degree in Tropical Agriculture with a Specialization in Tropical Animal Production by the “Larenstein” University of Professional Education (former International Agricultural College), the Netherlands (1998).PhD in Veterinary Sciences (2000). Advanced training in “Agricultural research for development”, by the International Centre for development oriented Research in Agriculture (ICRA), Wageningen, the Netherlands (2003). More than 30 years’ teaching/researching experience in the fields of animal nutrition and feeding; animal production systems and agroforestry. Missions of study and/or work in the Netherlands, England, South Africa, Switzerland, Poland, Kenya, Argentina, Germany and Denmark.
